This project explores a simple, effective way to heat larger volumes of water using a traditional wood-fired donkey boiler design. Built with an old gas bottle and accessibility and practicality in mind, this version is well suited for group use, where hot water is needed for multiple people, whether for washing, cleaning, or general use in off-grid or low-resource settings.
The focus of this design is on using readily available materials, keeping the system simple to build, maintain, and repair, while still being efficient and reliable. It’s a great example of how basic principles and thoughtful design can provide a useful and sustainable solution without relying on complex or expensive technology.
In time I intend to upload drawings and more details but for now here is a video of the build. If you’d like more details about this build, materials used, or ideas for adapting it to your own needs, feel free to reach out via the Contact Us page — always happy to connect and share further.
