This version of the donkey boiler builds on the original design, using the same gas bottle but reconfigured into a vertical, rocket stove-style system. The focus here is on heating smaller amounts of water more quickly, making it more suitable for regular, day-to-day use rather than larger group scenarios.
By incorporating rocket stove principles, this design improves efficiency and heat concentration, allowing for faster heating while using less fuel. The vertical layout helps create a strong natural draft, resulting in a cleaner, hotter burn and a more responsive system overall.
Like the first version, this build keeps things simple, practical, and accessible — using readily available materials and a design that can be repaired and adapted over time.
In time I intend to upload drawings and more details but for now here is a video of the build. If you’d like more details on the build, how it compares to the original version, or ideas for adapting it to your own setup, feel free to reach out via the Contact page. Always happy to share and learn together.
